Corporate income tax

Companies pay 20%. Under the corporate income tax law that applies from the 2025 tax year, small companies pay 15% (revenue up to ₫3 billion) or 17% (₫3 billion to ₫50 billion). Provisional tax is paid quarterly and the annual finalisation is filed within 90 days of the year-end. Projects in encouraged sectors or zones can get preferential rates and tax holidays.

VAT and e-invoicing

VAT is charged at 10%, with 8% on many goods and services until 31 December 2026. Businesses declare monthly, or quarterly if smaller, using the credit method.

All businesses must issue electronic invoices in the tax authority's format; retailers and restaurants must issue invoices from cash registers connected to the tax authority. Household businesses moved from lump-sum tax to self-declaration in 2026.

Foreign contractor tax

Payments to foreign companies without a presence in Vietnam attract foreign contractor tax, withheld by the Vietnamese payer and declared within ten days of payment: 10% on royalties, 5% on interest, and 5% CIT plus 5% VAT on services. Dividends paid to foreign corporate investors carry no withholding.

Transfer pricing and the global minimum tax

Related-party transactions must be at arm's length and disclosed with the annual return; net interest deductions are capped. Large multinational groups pay Vietnam's qualified domestic minimum top-up tax at 15%.
